Rebranding a local business
Albatros Club Mykonos
Overview

This project consisted of a brand redesign and a website redesign that would refresh the image of this small family-run hotel located on the island of Mykonos. The owners care deeply about aesthetics and local customs and try to introduce every client to the traditional side of the island as well as making sure that they are having a pleasant stay.

Albatros Club Mykonos Project
First Steps

Initially I setup a meeting with the owners to see what they had in mind in terms of the look and feel of the new branding. Essentially since they opened they had used the same branding and wanted now that to reflect all the changes they made in the culture and facilities over the year. They wanted to make potential customers feel calm and excited even before they stepped foot on the island. So I tried to incorporate the natural colours of the surroundings alongside the textiles that they had used to create a complete story from start to finish. In the meantime I tried to see how different elements in the experience branding could touch in order to tell that story effectively.

Process

For the logo I reused the original icon but turned it into an outlined version to bring simplicity and a lighter feel to it as it was gonna be present in many things. As for the colours I wanted to combine the warm beige colour of the sand with the cool grey tones of the textiles and shadows the building create in the hot summer weather - materialise in a way memories I had as a chile on the island. Since the actual facilities had changed so far during the years I had to delicate all the photography tasks to another professional in order for things to run in parallel. Finally, I got to work on the website and bring the final piece of the story to life that showcases all of that alongside other aspects of the experience (such as the local cuisine and drinks).

Outcome

The feedback for the refresh both from stakeholders and customers alike had been extremely positive. Everyone felt very confident with how it all worked together and for the first time it sparked a bigger conversation about the role branding can play. Visitors on the website increased as well as the number of people reaching out for enquires and bookings. The adoption of the new branding didn't stop there, shortly after more and more items started being rebranded including new menus, staff uniforms, vinyls for the buses, social media posts, marketing collateral, tableware and much more.
